Thread starting

• Always make use of search bar for existence of similar threads/subjects before creating one.
• Threads should primarily relate to Malayalam Cinema or Cinema in short and any fields which overlap with that like TV, Visual Media, Print Media, web Media etc.
• All other threads should given prefix/suffix as OT (Off Topic) and for starting OT members should need to get prior approval from mods. One can use SUGGESTIONS thread for that purpose.
• Specific threads for a particular actor/movie from non-malayalam languages are not allowed.
• Official Threads for actors/actress are not allowed.
• Before starting a PREVIEW thread for a movie concerned persons must be sure about its name, stars and so on. We suggest starting such threads only when officially announced. It can be POOJA/announcement through web/print/visual media.
• Review threads for upcoming releases must only start before one day prior to release.
• Thread starters (TS) should construct a clear purpose/idea of a thread in its header. Even TS can explain about the do’s & do not’s in a thread if necessary.
• In case of multi-star films avoid giving importance to certain actor in thread heading.
• Please show interest in creating preview and review threads for all malayalam films irrespective of their cast/budget/hype. No matter how small is the film, please try to promote malayalam films as much as possible.
• All the above policies are subject to change and updated as and when we feel the need of that.

Poll starting

• Polls should have mandatory end date with not exceeding than four months. Polls without end date will be removed without notification.
• While creating polls; it should be open for voting allowed to Community members only. Default it’ll be “Anyone”. Avoid that option. Thus only it’ll reflect the actual opinion of our member’s and prevent “outside” marketing.
• Specific polls for a particular actor/movie from non-malayalam languages are not allowed.
• Rate a movie poll should have options on all extremes preferably Excellent, Very Good, Good, Average, Poor, Worst etc.
• Polls on members/mods/owner should be healthy and shouldn’t be a mocking one at any moment even if it’s for fun. Will only allow such polls under extreme carefulness.
• Polls are also considered as discussion, so the rules of community apply over there. It has been found lot of clashes appears there and lots of abusive words are used. Won’t entertain it any cost.
• If some comments against an off topic poll comes, we'll delete it. Because such polls should be undisputed. In other words it should be agreeable for everyone in community.
• Please try to start a poll along with review thread. It would be very helpful if we post the poll link in the 1st review page.
• When you put "the best”, (or any Superlative terms) try to put single option. Multiple options are not good for these polls.
• Poll options/description/question shouldn’t be derogatory towards any actors/actress/movies.
• Intentional degrading of a movie/star through polls won’t be encouraged.
• All the above policies are subject to change and updated as and when we feel the need of that.

Guidelines for members

• This community is for discussing malayalam movies. It’s not the place for unwanted arguments regarding superstars, actors, members or anything else. Healthy discussions on malayalam movies are always welcomed and encouraged.
• Sensible criticism regarding movies is welcomed. Personal abuse against actors, members or any other person will not be allowed. Members doing so will be banned without or without any warning. Abuse will not be tolerated even in retaliation.
• Posts which are not related to the thread's subject will be deleted. Trolling won’t be entertained and regular trollers will be viewed strictly.
• Threads/discussions/references based on other orkut communities/sites are not allowed.
• No spamming. If any ads, games, online petitions, chain letters, helpful schemes, junk mail, beneficial Invitations to join other communities etc should be only done in respective threads.
• Always keep this in mind. This community's name is "Malayalam movies". Threads for praising or abusing a particular actor will not be allowed anymore. And intentional downgrading of a movie/star won’t be allowed.
• Respect other views even if you don’t agree with them and move on. Showing intolerance of others opinion will be viewed seriously.
• Don’t response to provoking posts in same manner; instead of that report that in Complaint thread immediately.
• Don’t encourage bad behavior/language or conflicts or personal rivalry in threads. If two of the members engaged in a dual a third person or preferably senior member can mediate in indulgent manner.
• Repeatedly creating same thread/post will end up an action form moderators side to that particular profile.
• This community is for discussing malayalam movies, and this community has a dignity. Any post questioning/abusing/mocking at the community's dignity will be treated seriously and necessary disciplinary action will be taken.
• Fake profiles not allowed & multiple profiles are not allowed. Since community is an open to all, we are planning of removing fake profiles, we will try hard to judge fake profiles and remove asap. Please put a scrap, if u feels a profile has been removed mistakenly.
• For each film review threads you start - We will try to put details of crew members in 1st page of the review thread itself. Make it attractive by posters and big/colored fonts if possible.
• No download links of movies or songs are allowed to be posted in the forum. Such links will be removed with immediate effect. If someone makes repeat posts of the links, disciplinary actions will be taken.
• Review threads are strictly for reviews only. All other wishes/concern/links/pics/theatre status & pics/comments on that same movie can be done in its Preview/Discussions threads. Atleast for couple of months/weeks of a release we maintain it very strictly.
  
• Spoilers are strictly removed and blogs with only links will be removed and navigating members with same won’t be encouraged.
• Always stay cool. Take a time off from sensitive discussions, rather than adding fuel to it. Always think from a long term view. Help others who are new to the community and guide them to be part of us. Don’t demand, but ask politely.
• If you encounter rude or inappropriate behavior, don't respond likewise. Take the other member's perspective into account. Also consider negotiating a Truce, rather than walling it to other members. Make use of senior members’ advice and experience.
• Members always have the option to self correct. This includes him/her to remove their unwanted comments and apologize to others. This Community always encourages self correction and improvement. Using this point, we can judge the member is doing mistake knowingly. This is a positive online community: people make mistakes, but they are encouraged to learn from them and change their ways.
• DO NOT make personal attacks anywhere in this community. Please Comment on content, not on the contributor or film personalities. Such derogatory comments will be removed and suitable action will be taken.
• The community may impose bans/warning, by consensus, upon other editors who have exhausted the community's patience or done anything harmful & unhealthy. In short “anything” which mods/owner come across which is not suitable for community and its peaceful atmosphere among members.
• Attack on movie personalities include Linking to external attacks (includes web links or any e-content) or other material for the purpose of attacking them. Please don’t make any personal comments and respect them.
• Attacks on members are more serious and will lead to much stricter action. Members can complain personally to moderators or in the complaint thread. Please don't make sarcastic comments.
• There are many unwritten rules in this community which are nothing but “common sense”.
• All the above policies are subject to change and updated as and when we feel the need of that.

BAN & WARNING/REMOVALS (Escalation Matrix)

• Members please use the complaints thread. Please don’t use this thread for chit-chat.
• If a dispute is irresolvable, we request senior members to mediate if possible, which would be really helpful. (Senior members would have to be neutral or those we identify as neutral)
• If a member is found violating above mentioned criteria, action will be taken in form of ban/warning depending on severity.

• Warning will be put on the "Warning thread" for less severe issues. Members may or may not have the chance to receive two warnings before any of the bans are initiated.
• Banning members can happen as a
  
• a) Temporary Ban - These bans will be decided mostly at time of ban. This can be issued after two warnings. Temporary Ban could be from 1 month upwards. Member HAS to take initiative to come back to the community. She/he has to inform the moderators for their wish to come back. (NB: It’s not necessary to get a temporary Ban after two warnings. In case of serious issues, can result to Permanent ban). And Temporary Ban is only applicable for active members which will be identified by mods/owner.

• b) Permanent Ban. This can be issued after 2 warnings or after 1 temporary ban or it can be a direct permanent ban. No coming back is encouraged after this type of ban.
• Apart from all above rules the severity / quantum of ban and other decisions / actions taken with respect to the above rules shall depend on the facts of each individual case.
• Mod's decision regarding warning/temp ban won't be lifted at any chance. If a member receives a warning/temp ban, that is final and no question of reconsideration/revoking.
