"Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla" (NOCM) is a movie with a novel plot and narration, makes up for a riveting viewing. Movie follows the narrative style of story within the story. The concept of the conflict between the conscious vengeance and the unconscious drives and wishes which might get entangled in a writer's work is the basic theme of the movie on which an interesting plot is woven with ingredients for an enjoyable watch.
Shankar Ramakrishnan has written the story, screenplay and the dialogues. He has written an unconventional script in a comprehensible manner. He explores how pent-up anger might rear it's head in a writer's plot and how he might start manipulating his characters to settle his scores. But it won't be easy as the unconscious drives try to interfere and a battle ensues. The writer and his character which is his manifest-unconscious try to pull the story away from one another according to their satisfaction, in the end who wins the battle needs to be seen in the big screen.
Movie also throws light at when one start viewing people through the prism of preconceived judgement of the one who introduces them, then human mind would find it hard to look beyond the subjectively opinionated point of view. And when a writer starts writing a story based on those characters this subjectivity would strongly bias the way the characters are written. One should guard against it and not judge people by hearsay.
From what i have mentioned in the previous two paragraphs the readers might think that the movie is abstract and philosophical, but the truth is Shankar along with the director V.K.Prakash have presented the movie in a lucid and tangible manner at the same time not watering down the narrative richness.

Fahad Fazil, who has made it a habit of choosing interesting and meaningful scripts has done it again this time too. Not only he has chosen the right script, he has done a brilliant job in portraying the two characters he plays in this movie. He shows nice contrast between the characters, one a demure, earthy "small fish" Preman aka Natholi and the other suave, greyish and audacious Narendran. Fahad is fast turning out to be the most talented young actor of Malayalam cinema at present. Kamalini Mukherjee lends good support though at certain points she irritates with her anger outbursts (may be intended to be like that). Rima Kallingal has a very brief role.
Bijibal's background score is good, supports the narration well. Abhijit Shylanath's songs are melodious and good. Arun James is the cinematographer who has not given any scope to complain his work. Movie boasts of slick technical values.
Just over two hours, movie is crisp and entertaining. Yet another must watch Fahad Fazil's movie.
Bottomline: Oru cheriya movie alla...!!

പരീക്ഷണങ്ങളുടെ പൊന്നുതമ്പുരാന് വി കെ പ്രകാശും ന്യൂ ജെനറേഷന് സെന്സേഷന് ഫഹദ് ഫാസിലും ഒന്നിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഉണ്ടായ പ്രതീക്ഷ ചില്ലറയല്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഫസ്റ്റ് ഡേ ഫസ്റ്റ് ഷോ തന്നെ പോയത്. പക്ഷെ പ്രതീക്ഷകളെ തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല എന്ന് പറയേണ്ടി വരും.
ആശയം കിടു ആണ്. തന്നെ വില വെയ്ക്കാത്തവരെയും നാറ്റിച്ചവരെയും എഴുതി കൊല്ലാന് തീരുമാനിക്കുകയാണ് പ്രേമന്. അതിനു വേണ്ടി അയാള് നരേന്ദ്രന് എന്നാ കഥാപാത്രത്തെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ പ്രേമന് നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന നൂല്പ്പാവകളാവുകയാണ് പുള്ളിയുടെ ശത്രുക്കളും നരേന്ദ്രനും. അയാള് കഥയെഴുത്ത് തുടങ്ങുന്നു. കഥയൊക്കെ കള്ട്ട് ആണ്. കഥയില് ചോദ്യമില്ല എന്നാണല്ലോ. അപ്പൊ പിന്നെ കഥയ്ക്കുള്ളിലെ കഥയില് ചോദ്യം ഉന്നയിക്കുന്നതില് യാതൊരു യുക്തിയുമില്ല. ആളെ പൊട്ടനാക്കുന്ന കുറെ രംഗങ്ങള് ഉണ്ട് സെക്കന്റ് ഹാഫില്.
ഫഹദ് പതിവുപോലെ തന്നെ കിടുക്കി. 2013 -ഉം തന്റെ വര്ഷമായിരിക്കുമെന്ന സൂചനയാണ് ഫഹദ് നല്കുന്നത്.ആ സീരിയല് നടനും നന്നായിരുന്നു. കമാലിനിക്ക് കാര്യമായിട്ടൊന്നും ചെയ്യാനില്ല. റിമയും സത്താറും ജയനും എല്ലാം കൊള്ളാമായിരുന്നു. എക്സെപ്റ്റ് ഐശ്വര്യ.
വ്യത്യസ്തത തേടിയുള്ള വി കെ പിയുടെ യാത്ര തുടരുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യുന്നു. കുടോസ്!
കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെയും പ്രേക്ഷകരെയും ഒരുപോലെ മണ്ടന്മാരക്കാനുള്ള ചില ശ്രമങ്ങള് ഒഴിച്ചുനിര്ത്തിയാല് ശങ്കര് രാമകൃഷ്ണന്റെ തിരക്കഥ തരക്കേടില്ല. എന്നാലും സെക്കന്റ് ഹാഫ്..
പാട്ടുകള് കൊള്ളാമായിരുന്നു.
കുറച്ചു കൂടിയൊക്കെ തല പുകച്ചിരുന്നു എങ്കില് ഒന്നാന്തരം ആകേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന ഒരു സിനിമ വെറും ആവറെജില് ഒതുങ്ങി പോയത് പോലെ തോന്നി.
അവസാനം കിട്ടിയ പോലെ ഉള്ള കൂവലൊന്നും ഈ പടം അര്ഹിക്കുന്നില്ല. ബോക്സ്ഓഫീസില് തകര്ന്നടിയും, തീര്ച്ച.

2nd half il kurachu thrilling+humorous moments kure undayirunnu... but athokke enthino vendi thilakkunna sambhar pole thonni.... climax okke odukatha kooval aayirunnu..... manushyane mandanmaar aakiya pole.... fahadh was good throughout,mukundan was also good in supporting role.... kamalini alpam bore aayirunnu, especially that screaming scenes(onnu pottikkan thonnum)... rima okke veruthe vannu poyi... bakki characters okke kurach scenes ile ullu...

NATHOLI ORU CHERIYA MEENALLA
Some people dont stop experimentation,even afterthey becomes successful.VKP is a weird guy for that matter.Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla is a fantasy movie which might irritate some of you.But as far as Im concerned I didnt feel that irritation,and in a way I enjoyed it too.
SCRIPT:Script Writer Shankar Ramakrishnan has introduced a novel thought in Malayalam,although similar films can be seen in Hollywood.The story revolves around Preman,who tries to write a script in a sadist way to torture Kamalinee Mukherji's Charachter.He tries to mix live narration by the protagonist along with the story telling,which is humerous.First half dialogues were perfect for the situations.Some of them are meant to say his philosophy[like his friend Anoop Menon].But the second half dialogues might feel strange,as the low educated protagonist writes urban english!.But lets forgive Shanker,cos it was important for the completion of the scenes and the script.The story ends abruptly,without any clue what the scriptwriter meant.May be there isnt anything to explain.Its just a see and leave it type of movie.Movie never bored me,so in that way Shankar Ramakrishnan's work is a good one.
DIRECTION:VKP once again proved his organizer level direction.Putting the best for his film,exploiting maximum from everyone.Has done a good job in casting.
ACTING:No doubt,Fahadh is the most talented hero entered malayalam industry,after 2002[By that I meant Indrajith and Jayasurya].He was so perfect,us new manarisms of acting.Kamalinee mukherji delivers a stunning performance.All others were perfect fo their roles.
TECHNICAL:This might be the first technically bad VKP film in years.The Camera Dept sucks thrugh out.The Canon magic didnt work this time.Some of the sequences felt like serial.Editing by Traffic guy Mahesh Narayanan was only okay.Altogether it felt like a pretty low budget movie.
MUSIC and BGM:Music by Abhishek is not so cool.He has created some melodies,but the selection of singers sucks.BGM is done by Bijibal,and its the best thing about the movie.Actually that heavy BGM helped the movie all the way from getting lagged.
I know some might hate my review,but what Im saying is that,Okay this movie has a weird kind of narration,but it never bores!As a person like me who likes variety and freshness,this was a pretty decent treat.I recommend this for those who likes this variety and freshness.

ബ്യൂടിഫുള്ളിലെ 'സിദ്ധാര്ത്ഥന് 'വഴി'യും, ട്രിവാണ്ട്രം ലോഡ്ജിലെ അബ്ദു വക 'കുന്തി'യും കഴിഞ്ഞു നത്തോലിയിലെ 'പൂരി'യിലെത്തുമ്പോള് വി കെ പ്രകാശിന് എന്ത് ആത്മ നിര്വൃതിയാണാവോ കിട്ടുന്നത്? അതോ 'കരഞ്ഞു തീര്ക്കുക' എന്ന നത്തോലിയിന് മേലുള്ള ആരോപണം പുള്ളിക്കാണോ ചേരുക?
സ്വാഭാവിക അഭിനയമായിരുന്നു ഫഹദ് ഫാസിലിന്റെ മുഖമുദ്ര.. പ്രേമന് എന്ന നത്തോലിയില് അത് കാണാന് പറ്റിയില്ല.. നരേന്ദ്രന് പക്ഷെ സ്വാഭാവികമായിരുന്നു..
