One of the most thinking actors of our times, Mammootty has agreed to be on a historical titled ‘Bombay, March 12’. The megastar will thus pave the way for one of the popular scenarist of our times, Babu Janardhanan to debut as an independent director
Based on the suffering of the commoners who were held in between the riots that rocked the financial capital, the movie will be a multilingual made in other languages also. The shooting of the movie is planned to take place in Rajasthan and Kerala.
Babu Janardhanan had in the past, penned the scripts for some critically acclaimed movies like ‘Achanurangatha Veedu', 'Vaasthavam' and 'Thalappavu'.

Babu Janardhanan had taken us back to the time of the emergency and naxalism in Thalappavu, the film which he had scripted and was directed by Madhupal. And now, with his debut directorial venture, Babu Janardhanan, who has also scripted films like Achchanurangaatha Veedu, Avan Chaan-diyude Makanand Vasthavam, goes down memory lane once again.
Bombay March 12, which is Babu Janardhanan’s debut directorial venture, has Mammootty in the lead and goes back in time, to the early 1990’s. The film zooms in on the Mumbai riots of 1993 and strives to talk about the sufferings of the common people during those turbulent times.
Says Babu Janar-dhanan, “Yes, the project is confirmed. Though shooting dates are yet to be confirmed, we plan to begin it in March or April’.

The Release Of “Bombay March 12” Shifted
Babu Janardhanan, the successful script writer, is making his debut as director with ‘Bombay March 12’. The release date has been postponed from 24th June to 30th June. This bold venture with an off-beat theme, focuses on the gory incidents ant the ghastly accidents which paralyzed the commercial capital of India, Bombay on 12th March 1993-the real life-like scenario of the bombings and bloodshed which painted Mumbai on that fateful day.
Babu Janardhanan, who has already done the script for films viz., Achanurangatha Veedu, Vaasthavam, Thalappavu, is roped in to create another masterpiece for this film “Bombay March 12”. Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, who has already crooned his voice for songs of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films, is now set to make his grand entry in Mollywood. The popular playback singer will debut in Malayalam films through Mammootty's much-hyped film 1993 Bombay March 12, which is slated to release on 24th June.
Sonu Nigam has sung a song called 'Chakkaramavin Kombath' for the movie 1993 Bombay March 12. Rafeeq Ahmed has penned the lyrics and blind musician Afzal Youf has composed music for the song.
