Director Lal, as an independent director, after sequels of In Harihar Nagar, is back with new movie TOURNAMENT with comparitively newfaces & freshfaces in malayalam cinema in lead. The movie had a promising thread, but the paper ads & the intro about the movie by Lal before movie starts spoils the whole show.



Story
Vishwanathan(Fahad Fazil aka Shanu), Balu(John Jacob, remember the dancer in the elction song in Sakudumbam Shyamala) and a new face got selected for APL cricket team selection from the club run by Siddhique(cameo appearance). The selection was to be conducted at Banglore.

first half valiya preshnam illaa....play replay kurachee ulluu

second half nalla alambu aayrunnu...avasaan aayapool enthinu ee padam eduthu ennayi choodiyam!!

Lal ithokke thanne alle in ghost house inn avasaan kaaniche ennu oru doubt!!

Performance puthiya pilleru kuzhappamilla... salimkumar was ok..sometimes unshakiable!!

Onnum parayaanillaaa....oru avg mark kodukaam!!

Saw the movie from tvm sreepadmanabha. An average movie with some good comedies and songs. The film was going well till the climax but the climax was not the best. may be lal had no other option than this type of a climax. Last 10 minutes of the movie was below average. Some scenes in the climax remembers us about the climax in the harihar nagar sequeals. The movie will not bores u. A film that can be watched at least once.

Saw tournament from Anchal Varsha Royal Suite-300 seat theteril about 20 people

Movie started with a voice over by Lal.As mentioned earlier this is the story a some friend going for selection of APL Tournament in Bangalore.Titles were good.3 friends and the wild life photographer girl.One gets injured in accident and is unable to go to the selection tournament.Siddique appears for a short while as the coach of these guys.Short time But he was good as usual.Pinne evar airportil vachu orale koote parichayappetuynnu.The guy with Thrissur slang.He was good through out the movie except in Climax portions where he over acts and shouts.Bomb threat karanam flight cancelled.So heroinete idea prakaram enjoy cheythe pokan avar loriyil bangloril pokunnu.
ofcourse with heroine.Pinne natakkunna sambhvangalanu katha.
First half comedy anu try cheythathu.Lal tries like Golmaal films.dharalam comedy amittukal vachittunde-Chilathu pottum chilathu cheetum-50/50 Ratio

Fahad Fazil don't have machu to do.Thadiyan is meant for comedy only.Kochupreman as lory driver was good.Bijukkuttan was ok.Comedy as I mentioned earlier chilathu click akum chilathu cheetum.Salimkumarinteyum sthithi ethu thanne-Karnatakayil MLA akan malsarichu thotta al.But lalinu sthalam Tamil Nadu akkunathayirunnu Nallathu.Bcoz etaykku Kannada varum.Audiencinu Kannnada Manassilakathathu kondu karnatakakkare kondu Tamil samsarichirippikkunnu.Logically wrong anu but its ok.Bangloril katha natakkunna Mafiyayil ellavarum parayunnathu Tamil Anallo.But lal could have changed Banglore to chennai to solve the problem.Yatraykkitayil evar kattil koode pokunnu.Athinitayil chila comedikal kondu varan sramikkunu.Kootuthal bore anu.But first half was decent and engaging one.

As usuual Lal tries his formula.First Half comedy,Second half thriller.He succeded in TO HH Nagar and IGHI.

But not this time.Lalinte e numbers audience manassilakki kazhunju from his previous films.Though 2 HH nagar was never near original the twists worked there.But not that much in IGHI.But still it was a hit.But I Could guess Suspense in IGHI from the end of first half.Ethavanayum sthiram numbarukal payattunnathu konde suspense enikku pakuthikku vachu thanne manassilayi.The problem is that the twists helped 2 HH Nagar and IGHI.But there are too many twists in tournament which leaves audience confused and exhausted .And there is no Thomas kutty gang to save this one.New comers were good..Heroine kollilla.There was a freshness due to newcomers and Narration.The film was racy.Except in second half there was no lag.Screenplay was bad.It wasn't able to carry story forward.Songs were ok.BGM Was bad.Cinematography was good.Good eiting also which leaves audience no time to think. But the Climax was too weak-Lal had no other options.Infact even he looks confused like the audience what to say-Friendship,love,Betrayal or a thriller which leaves an aviyal like product to audience.
But overall an average and watchable film if you don't have nothing else to do.

Randu thavannu lalinte chakka veenu muyal chathu.But this time muyaline karyam pidikitti.Chakkayittathu veruthe ayi.This film doesnt desrves to be a hit like IGHI which had a narrow esacpe.But no lukthis time.This will be a box office flop.Though Lal may get profit due to low budget and satellite right blah blah blah

Tournament is watchable

Watched the film from Calicut Radha FDFS. Theatre stats - Balcony: 50% and First class: approx 20%.

Its a watchable film with an entertaining first half and a "sahikkable" second half. First halfil kure ashleela comedikalum, nalla 2 songsum, Kochupreman-Bijukkuttan-Salim Kumar-USMAN comediesum okkeyayi valare entertaining aayirunnu. Oru 5-8 twistum ee halfil varunnundu. A few are predictable though. Second halfil twistukalude thrissur pooramaanu. Puthiya friendshipile selfishness Lal sharikku varachukanikkunnu. Climax chavaraanu. Totally a youthful movie with hundreds of twists here and there.

one person in the film plans the world thing..and the movie goes as per his plans..and climaxil aa suspense poliyumm/....

LAL has been doing this right from to hariharnagar.. Ini oru time koodi itee formula repeat cheythal naatukaar screen valichu keerum..

- play replay saadanam kollayirunnu...

saw tornament from savitha -12 pm

status- 50-55 %

All the actors have done their part well and one rarely gets the feeling that this is their first film.Fahad fazil,the experienced one among them was okay as he had nothing much to perform.The guy who played the role of the (real) John Subramaniam was also good though he almost went a bit over board at times.The actor who played the character of the fatty 'Usman Ali' managed to raise a few laughs occassionally.The protagonist 'Bobby' was fine.New comer Roopa(Aswathy) had a meaty role and she looked good.

Overall 'Tournament: Play and Replay' is a film which looks slick and cool with some decent performances from the lead cast,with no Suraaj Venjaramoodu in it,but ends up as a below average affair due to sloppy writing and too many silly and predictable twists.

Tournament is a disappointment.. The script and direction backfires some good performance from the new comers... Songs are good.. First half is average, second half is below average and climax is poor... Altogther Lal wasted a chance to make a good film from an interesting story and a bunch of good actors..

Theater Status : TVM Sreepadmanapha (6.15pm) 65-70%

first half of the muvi was interesting... but the second half, espclly the climax was pathetic..
the music of the muvi too was not upto mark...

well tournament cannot be called a bad movie bcoz der r movies which r worser than this.if dis is called bad den der wont be sufficient words 2 represent d real kootharas..4 me a movie dat does not make u bored is watchable nd definitely tournament is a watchable movie according 2 me .
it had some really good and fresh songs nd good acting from newcomers.i liked d presentation and style .the movie ofcourse had some light moments too..the main drawback was d lack of a solid script nd story(which of course none of lal movies had recenty)..but i liked it better than the hariharnagar flicks rllsd recently just bcoz der s no jagadish in it...the comedies wer atleast laughable

for me movie was a good one...

First Half was a good one..3 kidu songs...+ bhedapetta comedys..
second half ... started well.. but lose track with valipps and all..

Tournament a good Start with bad end

Tournament Is a Very Good Movie with everyone one doing their part so good ! But i expected a better climax ! Fresh Comic scenes , some Excellent Twists (Play & Replay) & superb Perfomance of all artists are the main positives.
The only negative i felt was climax .

THIS MOVIE NAME SHOULD BE CHANGED TO REPLAY...

had lil expectations as it was a lal movie, but really this movie is disappointing.

1st half was just ok,
but second half and climax was like teasing the audience,why lal created this movie??? still am wondering why lal created such a movie when already this type of sequences were shown in in his film ghost house inn......!!!!

fahad fazil was good, he is improving, new comers were good, liked the guy who delivered trissur slang......

Watchd it today.
For me its a gud movie.An usual 'Lalistic' story portrayed in a fresh background.
Th main positive of th film is promising intro of a group of youngsters.Everyone in th cast perfomed well through out.
Th music dept was too gud nd th way it was picturised was nice.
Th only negative i found was Climax was a sudden one,cud hav made it much better.
Nywayz this film doesnt deserve a flop status.
